Kuldeep Yadav Set to Replace Mohammed Siraj? India’s Likely XI for 2nd Test Against Bangladesh
India is gearing up to face Bangladesh in the second and final Test at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur, starting September 27. Rohit Sharma’s team enters the match with confidence, having secured a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Aiming for a clean sweep, India seeks to not only assert their dominance but also strengthen their position in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for 2023-25.
In the opening Test in Chennai, India showcased their prowess with a commanding 280-run victory. Ravichandran Ashwin shone with a six-wicket haul in the second innings, while Rishabh Pant made a stellar return to Test cricket, scoring 109 runs. Bangladesh struggled against India's formidable total of 515, bowled out for just 234.
As the second Test approaches, some changes to the playing XI might be in the works for Kanpur. The spin-friendly conditions at Green Park could lead to adjustments, despite the selectors retaining the same squad from the first Test. Kuldeep Yadav, with his strong track record at home, could be brought in to bolster the spin attack.
If selected, Kuldeep might replace pace bowler Mohammed Siraj, taking advantage of the expected slow nature of the pitch as the match progresses. This would allow India to field a potent spin trio of Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep, while Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep would likely handle the pace duties. With these potential adjustments, India is well-positioned to aim for a series victory against Bangladesh.
